The resort island of Bali is feared to face a power shortage when the Gilimanuk gasfueled power plant undergoes maintenance work later this month, a spokesman said.
“Because of the power crisis rotating power blackouts will be inevitable,” the head of the Bali distribution office of state electricity company PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN), Agung Mastika, said here on Saturday.
The maintenance work is scheduled to take place after the post-fasting month festivities Lebaran, he said.
The two-month-long work will start on September 23 and end on November 23, he said.
Power plants in Bali have a combines capacity of 552 MW while its power needs during the peak load is 493 MW.
