Badung regency which has many water tourism sites still need more water rescue officers (Balawista). A A Raka Yuda, the head of Tourism sites and interest division in Badung Tourism Department, said that currently Badung has 128 Balawista officers spread in 16 posts.
“The number of officers is lesser than the requirements especially compared to the area of Badung regency. There is should be 22 posts for 63 kilometers of shore line and 178 Balawista officers,” he added.
The government will fulfill the need gradually. Another post will be built soon in Dream Land beach in Pecatu, shoutern Kuta.
Mr. Yuda said “ideally, each post guarded by at least 7 officers but currently only four or five officers on guard in each post.” Even tough the condition is not ideal but the officers always guard the tourists who enjoy the scenery of Bali. They keep the security and able to conduct rescue attempt if needed.
In order to increase the professionalism of the Balawista officers, Badung government had given them the proper training with international standard.
