The Bali Art Festival (BAF) could increase the image of Indonesia and Bali especially in arts in the international world. Ida Bagus Sedhawa, the head of Bali’s Cultural Department, said “BAF give many benefits so the arrangements and activities in the annual event need to be increased in order to attract the attention from the world.”
In addition to increase the image, the BAF also could increased the economics of the people in bali. Indonesian Presidents Susilo Bamabang Yudhoyono hoped that Bali which is famous for its art and culture can act as the role model fro creative economics development.
“Foreign art groups participate in BAF but they only take part in the event and didn’t donate anything because the host didn’t give the fund and facilities needed by the art group,” added Sedhawa.
There is great hope that in the next BAF, the foreign groups can be invited by the host so they can prepare the performances as well as possible before coming to Bali. Foreign journalist also must be invited in order to promote the event abroad.
I Wayan Dibia, alecturer in Indonesian Art Institute (ISI) Denpasar, said that the promotions of Bali through BAF need to be increased. The next BAF should be informed earlier in order to give the chance fro the foreign groups to prepare their performances better.
