The number of Australian visited Bali in January through May 2009 was 137,018 people. The number increased 34% compared to the same period last year which was 101,836 tourists.
Ida Komang Wisnu, the head of Bali Statistic Department, said “the highest increase happened in may where 34,952 tourists from Australia visited Bali. It increased 51% compare to the same period last year which was 23,026 people.”
Australian tourists were in the first place of the top ten tourists coming to Bali. “Australia and Japan repeatedly stay in the top of the list,” he added. In the first five months of 2009, the number of Australian tourists was 137,018 people, followed by tourists from Japan which was 132,122 people.
Even tough the number of Japanese tourists decreased 7% but it still in second place. The total number of tourist visited Bali was 870,027 people. The number increased 9.76% compared to the same period last year which was 792,657 tourists.
Bali has become the second home for the Australian because the island is quite near and the security level is getting better from time to time. There is great hope that more Australian tourists will visit Bali in the future..
