Denpasar – Bali does not only offer the magnificence of nature and unique culture. It also has other allurements namely skillful hands of spa therapists. The wellness treatment is becoming one of the favorite activities for both domestic and foreign tourists. “Spas in Bali are exellent, and they are always winning prestigious awards in world constellations,” revealed Lulu S. Widjaya, Executive Committee of Bali Spa & Wellness Association (BSWA).
Over the last four years spas have become a trend, and virtually all accommodations have their own spas and spa treatment products. “Not only hotels, travel agents also have a package including spa treatments being offered from cheap to expensive rates. Even, in recent years guests often prefer to choose the package that does not only include room, lunch and dinner but also spa,” she added.
“The most common treatments are the Balinese spa, lulur and boreh (Balinese herbs used for the treatment). Even, today some foreign countries are also selling original boreh and lulur (scrub) of Bali. For instance foreign visitors from Cuba, Turkey, China and so forth purchase the spa treatment herbs in Bali and then sell them in their countries,” she relevated.
Japanese tourists are very fond of spa activities, but lately the market trend is targeting Rusians, Koreans, and Taiwanese tourists. “I think the toursts coming to Bali aren’t only coming for the nature and culture but for their spas as well. Spas not only offer treatments but more than that, they offer the experience of tapping into the main, body and soul,” she affirmed.
This matter was also reaffirmed by starred hotels located at Pecatu, Sanur and Ubud areas. According to Diah Wahyuni, Spa Sales Manager of The Ritz Carlton Bali Resort & Spa and Sayang Mustika, Human Resources Manager of Griya Santrian Sanur, that the total in house guests who take spa treatments in the hotel amount to approximetely 40% per month. Almost all travel agents also include their room packages separately. Wayan Ariadi, Assistant Spa Manager of Kamandalu Resort & Spa, expressed that spas pose as an important need for guests. Since spas have become a flourishing trend in Bali, Kamandalu resort offers a variety of room packages including spa treatments.
