Bali’s government will give awards to nine senior Balinese artists who greatly take part in preserving and developing Balinese art and culture. The awards will be given during the 31st annual Bali Art Festival (BAF).
I Made Santha, the head of Art Division in Bali Cultural Department, said “the awards is including certificate, health insurance, balinese traditional clothes, and money.” The artists were chosen from every regency in Bali and selected by a committee from the local department.
The committees are judging the candidates from many aspects such as their works and attitude towards the development of Balinese art and culture. The award will be given by Bali’s Governor, Made Mangku Pastika on June 30th 2009.
In the awarding ceremony, the artists will perform their abilities in dancing and traditional Balinese music. In the performance, they will collaborate with Dwi Mekar art group from Buleleng regency and also from Indonesian Art Institute (ISI) Denpasar.
Bali’s Government always give award and honor to Balinese artists who has great achievement and influence in developing Balinese art and culture during the BAF. In the 31 year of BAF has been carried out, 343 artists had received awards including nine in this year’s BAF. The awards is different with the Dharma Kususma award which is the highest awards in art.
