Denpasar – Bali tightly examined the cattle transportation especially pigs coming from Java in order to anticipate the spread of Swine flu. Ketut Sonen, the head of Quarantine division in Gilimanuk Farming Department, said “The traffic is tightly examined because most of the cattle from Java is marketed here in Bali.
Every pigs coming form Java will be examined carefully in the quarantine post in Gilimanuk harbor. If the cattle appear to be unhealthy, then they will be returned to their origin. For the meat that doesn’t have the proper documents, the officers will confiscate the meat.
Sonen said that the traffic of cattle to Bali is watched 24 hours. “We placed officers in shifts at Bali’s entrance. We want to prevent the virus from entering Bali,” added Mr. Sonen.
So far there have been no reports of swine flu cases in Bali but the local autotrophies want to prevent the virus from entering Bali. Bali Quarantine Department has not ordered prevention on the cattle from coming to Bali. There is great hope that there will be no swine flu cases in Bali.
