Denpasar – Dewa Nyoman Batuan, an artist from Pengosekan, Ubud, prepared dozens of his finest paintings which will be exhibited in an exhibition in Bali. “The paintings which will be shown are the best from I made’s collection of approximately 500 paintings since he became an artist over 50 years,” said Batuan.
The exhibition is actually ready to be held but Batuan wanted to wait until his book entitled “Mandala, Melukis, dan Menulis” or “Field, Painting and Writing” is published. Batuan said “ The book will be published in two different languages, Indonesian and English. The Indonesian version is ready to be published but the English version is still in the process of being printed in Singapore, so we must wait until it’s done.”
The book was compiled based on the experience of Dewa Nyoman Batuan as an artist and it attracted the attention of an American who wanted to sponsor and published the book in English. There is great hope that the book will promote Bali aboard especially the art of painting on the Island.
Dewa Nyoman Batuan is the third generation of “Pita Maha” because his grandfather studied with Rudolf Bonnet, a famous artist from Holland who stays in Ubud. Bonnet along with the late Tjokorda Gde Agung Sukawati who was born in 1910 and the late I Gusti Nyoman Lempad established “Pita Maha” in 1936.
