Denpasar – Telkomsel customers can enjoy a new cost system while traveling abroad. Telkomsel introduced a new international roaming cost system which is cheaper, simpler, and more transparent. The system was launched on March 1st 2009 and it allows customers to determine the use of international roaming, which is suitable with their budget.
Hendra Widjanarko, the manager of Denpasar’s GraPARI, said that Telkomsel divided the roaming costs into seven country zones without any time band, as well as implementing the global currency, which in US$. If the costumers request their bill in rupiah, then the charges will be converted using the updated IMF rate.
“The new cost system also offers free in receiving SMS, while sending SMS anly costs $ 0,45 in other countries and the surcharge components for voice and video calls per minutes and data access for 10 kilobytesare already included,” added Mr. Widjanarko.
Telkomsel erased the time band system in order to simplify the cost count. Telkomsel divided the roaming cost into 7 zones, they are Zone 1 (ex : Brunei, Macau, Singapore, and others), Zone 2 (Iraq, Korea, Filipina, etc), Zone 3 (Hong Kong, Japan, India, etc), Zone 4 (Australia, Canada, US, etc), Zone 5 (Germand, Holland, england, etc), Zone 6 (France, Denmark, Swiss, etc), and Zone 7 (Bermuda, Saudi Arabia, and other countries outside zone 1 altorugh 6).
The roaming costs are fixed according to the country zone and there are only three types, which include IDD (International Direct Dialling) to Indonesia (call to Indonesian numbers +62), local (call to number in its own country) and IDD to other country (call to number outside Indonesia and the local). The access data also is fixed according to the country zone. Currently Telkomsel cooperates with 330 cellular operators all over the world.
