Gianyar – Sukawati and Guwang art markets, whice are located in Gianyar, were crowded with domestic tourists on Sunday, March 8th 2009. The large number of domestic tourists visited Bali because of the long holiday this weekend.
Both of the markets sell beautiful handicarfts with reasonable price. The tourists bought the handicarfts for souvenirs for their friends and family. Yanti, a tourist from Surabaya, eastern java, said that she always shops at the Guwang art market every time she visits Bali.
“Almost every holiday my family and I visit Bali and we always shop here to buy gifts for our relatives back home,” added Yanti. According to Yanti, the items in the market are good quality and come in many different varieties. Ambar, atourist from Solo, said “I like to shop at the art market because we can interact with he sellers. We can bargain and get lower prices for high quality items.”
The increased number of domestic tourists highly benefited the sellers at the markets. Komang Kurnia, a seller at Guwang art market, said that his profits increase every holiday. However, he complained about the condition of the market during high season. If the market is crowded and hot, the tourists are always in a hurry and only buy a few items.
